RARE AUTHENTIC PINK FLOYDIAN COSMIC SYNTH DREAMY MASTERPIECE!!!

"Nadie en Especial" was the debut album by this Mexican group Chac Mool, released in 1980 on Philips. Yes, 1980 was a bad year for prog in Europe and north of the Mexican border, but in Mexico many of that country's best and best-known prog rock bands got started in the 1980s. This group was best known for featuring Jorge Reyes before he pursued in solo career (which from my understanding, combined electronic, prog, New Age, and pre-Hispanic influences). Carlos Alvarado was the other main guy of this group. This isn't typical of Mexican prog (of what I've heard), because this group had more in common with the likes of Pink Floyd or the Alan Parsons Project than say, Iconoclasta. They also used a bunch of synths (including a string synth), and even Mellotron on one or two cuts (probably the only Mellotron in Mexico). They also touched on pre-Hispanic styles too. One cut, "Aymara" has a strong Andean influence (I guess the Andean influence has to do with the fact Aymara are an indigenous people and language spoken in Peru and Bolivia), with tons of synth effects, and what I believe is a Mellotron buried (both Carlos Alvarado and Jorge Reyes are credited to playing it). And I know for a fact the Mellotron is easily heard on "El Dia En Que Murio El Rey Cameleon", with some rather unmistakable "Strawberry Fields"-like tron flute, as well as some male tron choir. As far as I know the only Mexican album with Mellotron! The band also stole from a theme from "Welcome to the Machine" for the title track, showing the Floyd influence of this group for everyone. Certainly this won't be the most original prog you'll ever hear (they get more original when exploring pre-Hispanic styles, as in "Aymara"), but it's a nice album to have.
