Description
By 1960, the 78rpm format was being rapidly phased out in favor of the 45rpm single. Consequently, 78rpm pressings from this year—particularly major hits—are significantly scarcer than their earlier 1950s counterparts, as they were produced in much smaller quantities for the rapidly shrinking 78rpm market. This record stands as a late-era, highly collectable artifact from the twilight of the 78rpm format in the UK.
Side A: "My Old Man's A Dustman" – A massive hit for the "King of Skiffle," this track—also subtitled "Ballad of a Refuse Disposal Officer"—was recorded live at the Gaumont Cinema in Doncaster. The song features new words and music credited to L. Donegan and P. Buchanan.
Side B: "The Golden Vanity" – A folk-based narrative featuring new words and music by L. Donegan.
