Description
Scotchman 101. Mr. T.C.B Part 1 (2:17) / Part 2 (2:24). Not a lot of info on this record, although it is listed in Rueben Molina's Chicano Soul book. Evidently Victor Lopez reformed Los Keys for a reunion concert which produced an article in the San Antonio Express-News, written by Hector Saldana in 2012. From that, we learn that Victor Lopez's first band was Tito and the Silhouettes, with Rocky Morales, which evolved into the Mar-Kays. Lopez started Los Keys in 1967, playing at the Satin Doll, and then moved to the Scotsman Club on San Pedro St. Besides Lopez on lead guitar, Los Keys included singer David Diaz, drummer Ralph Chavez, bassist James Vangee, and Jim Waller on piano and saxophone. Other members of the band were Denny Ramos, Frank Ramos, Jimmy Casas, and Joe Romo. "We were a dance band with a show" said Victor Lopez. The labels here are clean and the vinyl plays VG+. Jeff Smith has his Texas Sound Studio I.D. etched in the dead wax with "680816" indicating an August 1968 recording date. For a sound sample from both sides of this 45, please click here:
