Condition: VG : A number of marks on this disc but it plays better than grade (listen to clip)
Here's a great record I discovered last year in Brooklyn that's quite a mysterious piece of funk!
The A-Side of this record is created to Anselmo Innis (and Los Persuaders) and is in the "Guajira-Guaracha" style, which according to my research is Cuban in origin . The B-Side however is whole 'nother kettle of fish-- here the singer (Alberto Miller) does his funky soul thing over a slinky minimal groove . The chorus is killer on this one, with great tambourine and male/female vocals- "If you don't have Love and Peace, you're livin' in misery" -- listen to an mp3 clip here: Love and Peace .
My research turned up another hideously rare Alberto Miller / Persuaders track on a label called Taboga called "Black Power". That 45 and this one (judging by clips) sound VERY similar, possibly recorded at the same session? That record has variously been attributed to Panama and Peru but I'm thinking Cuba is more likely. If anyone has more info, please feel free to contact me.
Wherever it's from, it's quite a groove and needless to say, I've never seen another copy and there don't seem to be any copies available anywhere else. Here's your chance to beef up your rare funk groove collection or add some spice to your dj set!
