Description
Nice lot of 5 old 10" shellac records. 78rpm. These came out of a 1916 Victrola player. Owner said her granddad used to play these records all the time back in the day. As pics show they are in their original paper sleeves.
Records are untested and all in at least good condition. All are double sided discs. Sleeves range from VG to OK - one has had help with tape to keep seams together.
From first picture: Top left: Paramount Record. #2034. Tenor Solo. New York Recording Laboratories (NYRL), despite its name, was a subsidiary of the Wisconsin Chair Company, located in Grafton, Wisconsin. It is primarily known for its role in producing records for the Paramount Records label.
Top Middle: Brunswick #2057. Baritone. The Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company in 1884 expanded its product range to include phonographs. Brunswick Records: A successful line of records, Brunswick Records, was introduced in the late 1910s.
Top Right: Bottom Left: Columbia Records. #1742, 1909. Laughing Story. Columbia Records was founded in 1889, as the Columbia Phonograph Company. It holds the distinction of being the oldest surviving brand name in recorded sound. Origins and early innovations. Columbia initially focused on distributing phonographs and cylinders before transitioning to producing its own recordings, becoming a leader in the music industry.
Bottom Left: Victor Record #174128. 1908. Tenor. Founded in 1901, the Victor Talking Machine Company was a major force in the early recording and phonograph industry in the United States. Victor produced an extensive catalog of recordings spanning various genres, including classical, blues, popular, jazz, and country music.
