Description
An original 2nd Issue of Transformer on the RCA label from late-1973. Matrix 1E/2E. Please note how the labels are still include the 'Stereo' text at one o'clock - this would only have been apparent in 1973 [discontinued very shortly afterwards]. So, this pressing is certainly within 12 months from 1st issue. The vinyl comes housed in an original Clout & Baker cover. Also included is the original RCA inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In absolutely stunning condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. Please note there's some light foxing on the labels - pretty insignificant to be honest. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. It's getting close-on perfect. There's barely a whiff of interference and as a result you can hear deep into the mix and pick out those low-level sounds that normally you can't quite make out. 'Perfect Day' is the test track and 'yes' it plays absolutely great with a couple of crackles in a couple of spots. Expect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments elsewhere. But make no mistake about it - you will struggle to even match the audio on offer here.
Cover (Ex+) So, how does one go about finding a 'brand-new looking' 1973 cover>>? Well, there's only two possible scenarios..1) It was archived and never used. Then there's the other one that's relevant here 2)It was in its original cellophane [opened, but 97% covered]. A truly remarkable example of this 1973 Clout & Baker cover. One can only describe it as pristine - hues and colour are pretty much perfect without the usual surface you nearly always find. Ditto the rear, but it has a very slight indentation just left of centre which shows in one of the pics. It's almost invisible under normal lighting conditions. To show it I've tilted the cover to the light to reveal it - but this massively accentuates what is in fact a very minor mark. Edge wear is non-existent and the openings still lovely and sharp. All edges are perfect and the corners are perfectly sharp points. The spine is 100% perfect. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity. What a specimen..>>FINAL UPGRADE.
