Description
On offer here is a first press copy of Transformer by Lou Reed, released on the Orange RCA Label in 1972, catalogue number LSP 4807 / BPRS 7038/9.
This is a rare album as the very first pressing came for a short time in laminated sleeves, and then were quickly changed to the more common Matt unlaminated version.
Please note I use the Record Collector system of Grading both the Sleeve and the Vinyl.
The Laminated sleeve is is Excellent overall condition but has some laminate lift along the spine and one thumbnail crease in the laminate.The spine is square with no damage and all print is clear. Due to the laminate lift I have graded as Very Good Plus.
The vinyl is in Excellent condition arguably better and plays as Excellent Plus with great audio.
The Matt labels are very clean with no discernible spindle marks.
Matrix numbers are BPRS 7038 1E (Stamped) and A1AAAQ and A1AAW ( Scratched) in the dead wax areas.
Overall a great copy of a rare first press variant of this great album, copies are seldom seen especially in this condition.
The record will be sent outside of its cover in a polythene sleeve sandwiched between two 12”stiffeners in a heavy duty record mailer made by Covers 33, as used by Mail Order Record companies.
