Description
This is a rare original deep-groove RVG-stamped “P”- stamped test pressing of Louis Smith “Smithville” on Blue Note BLP 1594. The playing surface is in exceptional condition, with a high luster; perhaps played once. Although Blue Note affixed West 63rd labels, the edges – when carefully lifted – reveal white test pressing labels underneath. Blue Note occasionally put labels on test pressings after the session was commercially released. No art cover, as issued. Personnel include Charlie Rouse, Sonny Clark, Paul Chambers, and Art Taylor.
