Description

From 1963, “Ike Turner Rocks the Blues” (Crown CST-367). This is the stereo issue of Crown Lp 5367.
Ike Turner's name shows up on so many session lists in so many towns on so many record labels in the fifties that I sometimes think that there were 2 or 3 of him running around the countryside, like Johnny Appleseed, planting the seeds of Rock ‘n Roll everywhere. All overused clichés aside, he is a true pioneer whose work has influenced nearly everything heard since. He’s been a musician (piano & guitar), producer, arranger, writer, talent scout, bandleader, manager, bus driver, you name it. There is no doubt that Mr. Turner is one of the top three or four most important people in Rock ‘n Roll history. I saw him last spring (2005) and the person who introduced him said: “The equation is simple: No Ike Turner - No Rock ‘n Roll.”
This is his first solo album, and it’s a masterpiece.

This disc is still tightly sealed in its original shrinkwrap. There is cover wear consistent with its age (ring wear and corner dings).
There is a price sticker on the shrinkwrap on the front. It says 69¢. Who knew?
