Clearly reminiscent of The ORGANIZATION pre-KRAFTWERKSound mixed withThe jazzySoundofEMBRYO ,KOLLEKTIV plays A rather avant-gardeMUSIC inspired by both elementsofPsychedelicMUSIC , electronics combined with Jazz interfits.
The band was originally composed of Jogi Karpenkiel (bass) who joined Theband "The Phantoms", an utterly popband who changed their nameTo becomeThe "Rambo Zambo Bluesband", "Bluesology" and finally ORGANIZATION. Jogi Karpenkiel and Klaus Dapper (tenor/baritone/soprano saxes, flutes) got out of "Bluesology" To formTheband "The Generals", which will later change their style and will finally startTo be known asKOLLEKTIV when both Waldemar Karpenkiel (drums) and Jürgen Havix (guitar, sitar) joined themTo form The definitive lineup.
Their self-titled First Album is very reminiscent of Kraftwerk'sFirst works, featuring lotsof saxophones, guitar solos, flutes and electronic collages inA rather complex structuration that makes their reputationofA Jazz-rockband quite inaccurate and restrictive.
KOLLEKTIV are an important obscure short-lived Krautrock band that unfortunately broke out after their First release (Jogi Karpenkiel will join laterGuru Guru ).
