In The mid-60s, TheThe localMUSIC scene there. Many bands were formed at schools and youth clubs that wanted To imitate their heroes. Without any rhythm and blues or rock'n'roll roots of their own it was difficult FORTo develop originality. Most of Theof their idols' international hits providing them not only with acclaim but also lotsof gigs at local dances.

This was The TheThe French speaking Swiss cantonof Neuchatel. Thus began The story ofPACIFIC SOUND . Four Friends , Chris Meyer (vocals), Mark Treuthardt (guitar, bass), Diego Lecci (drums) and Roger Page (keyboards) were practicing there FORTheBallroom in their birthplaceof Motiers.

Yves Dubois, A Friend and fan ofTheband what urgingThebandTo "stop playing ballrooms, start writing your own songs, formA pop band !! "Theband decided he was right as they were fed up with playing coversof international hits and beganTo workOn their own ideas. Yves started To look after Theband 's organizational matters and becameA sortofA Manager.

On Roger's suggestion, The bandPACIFIC SOUND and withinA few months beganTo take shape withA setof almost all original compositions. After playing gigs in their own region The band gained confidence and played nearby France.

The next Step OnThe ladderof success whatTo releaseA record. Yves invited Rare Records ( FromToA gig. Louvin was impressed and offered The bandTo recordA singleFORHIS label.


At The end ofThebandRecorded "The Drug Just Told Me "and"TheGreen Eyed Girl "at The Stephan Sulke Studio in Biel. The single was A success. PACIFIC SOUND were On AA coupleof weeks later they went backToTheSame studio and producerTo record "Ballad To Jimi" and "Thick Fog"FOR release next yearOn SplendidRecords .

Fans and critics applauded The single, Theband 's originality and creativity was praised. The single won The FirstThe 1971 European Pop Jury in Cannes and whatPACIFIC SOUND 's breakthrough. It was also released in 18 countries On 8 different labels including Decca, Phillips, CBS and RCA.

Following The release ofThe prize-winning single "BalladTo Jimi ",The popularityofTheband increased dramatically and they were showered with gig offers. The band toured successfully throughout Switzerland. Louvin suggested The bandlp . Early in 1972, they went back To TheRecorded 7 new songs which, in additionTo "Thick Fog", made upThelp "Forget Your Dream! ", which was released in 1972On Splendid Records .

The lp was well received and A European Tour was arranged with gigs in Belgium, England, Holland, Germany and France. The band needed To upgrade their equipment FORA bank loan, but just asTheTour what aboutTo begin,The restof Theband , including manager Yves, left Roger inThe lurch. Louvin suggested To Roger ToFOR replacement musicians andA new line-up was created.

However, it never recaptured The old PACIFIC SOUND spirit. The new line-up didn't gel musically and Roger was left with HIS debts which were paid with TheOnTheTour . And that is The end ofA wonderful story. Nowadays Roger lives in A small village near Neuchatel and is A professional musician.
