Original 1969 first pressing vinyl on the famously collected (Frank Zappa's) STRAIGHT RECORDS LABEL ....In the late 60's Zappa discovered this hip cat who called himself Tim Dawe with a head full of exploding melody rich fresh freak beat grooves...Zappa exclaimed in glee "here's a nugget for my underground label"...

Tim Dawe appeared on the scene in 1969 with an album on Frank Zappa's Straight label. Penrod was a superb debut, full of psychedelic folk rock with lots of organ, harpsichord and brilliant acid guitar. Four masterpieces are included:- Nite Train Home, Junkie John, Sometimes Alone (with strong percussion) and Didn't We Love.
At times a gentle, moody folk-psych album, elsewhere host to a most delicious twangy acid-surf guitar courtesy of Chris Kebeck, this 1969 Straight LP is a curious anomaly. Dawe, a one-time Iron Butterfly member who'd go on to work with It's A Beautiful Day, has a warm, swooping voice. He brings a weirdly nostalgic air to “Junkie John” and other tunes about edge-dwelling heads, while Arnie Goodman's organ adds mod splashes all around. Understated and rather haunting stuff-with harpsichord!
