TOP COPY!

RARE '70s DOUBLE LP pressed (from master tapes) at Transworld ... the devastating first (1970) and second (1971) Lp's by DIONYSOS ... vastly still unknown to far too many collectors who would otherwise love this band (count US in !) had they be 'tuned-in' to the grooves within...

"Monster" rated PROGRESSIVE PSYCH HEAVIES! World-class sound!!!

The COMPLETE metal master taped to BOTH 1971 & 1972 first & 2nd albums by DIONYSOS...
Violent guitar barrages amid gushing organ and heavy rhythms ... one LP each in this two record set!

1970 FIRST "DIONYSOS"

Wall-Of-Sound crunchy guitar riffing Sabbath doom -=-=- gushing swerving organ swells and wailing classic-style vocals...the thunderous punch of first LP Sabbath takes the high road into progressive psych adventures. IF this were American, the Lp would be off the charts in popularity ...as it is, fairly still unknown and overall the listener gets to deal with a thrilling beast lying in wait...

DIONYSOS experiments with a heady mix of psychedelia prog & blues rock...highlighted by the monstrous chaos of the 12+ minute "Narcotique" which explore the contemporary themes of the day such as drug use and organized religion...

One of Quebec's earliest and most historically important albums is Dionysos' debut "Life's Big Game"

The opening 12-min+ "Narcotique" is a typical Dionysos blues-based structure, coming with plenty of drama, interplay, interludes and changes of tempo, enough to raise the hair from your arms.

"Suzie" is a good standard 12-bar Blues hardrock number that's well groove-able...

"La Colère" is a fuzz guitar piece that emulates anger...a killer track !

Even more interesting is the 8-min+ "L'Age Du Chlore", an up-tempo raving heavy affair evenly shared between organ and guitar battles reminiscent of Deep Purple "In Rock" ...even whirling flute fights the guitar for supremacy early on, with the organ lurking just under, underlined by the efficient drumming until coming back with more energetic with a vengeful searing distortion guitar. The album closes on the "Agneau De Dieu" ("God's Lamb"), the albums best track (and they're all great tracks) ...this one, meanacing heavy riff guitar that creeps into an uprising ...literally explodes in climax ending with a mighty fury of guitar & hard driving organ explosives... the singers voice commands a long wail that gradually fades, as if falling off a cliff ...

Narcotique (12:16)
Suzie (6:20)

la Colère (5:10)

L'Âge du chlore (8:39)

L'Âge d'or (6:27)
Agneau de Dieu (6:29)

1971 second DIONYSOS LP :::

The second album by the solid pioneering quintet of Canadian underground characters. Released in 1971 and graced with an abstract artwork, Le Prince Croule ("The Prince Crumbles") is the logical continuation ofthe first DIONYSOS album, but the quintet have learned a few tricks and Prince is arguably as good or better than the first -- as well as a concept album, revolving around a crumbling realm and a revolution.

Starting on the heavy dramatics of a surging Hammond organ and some prime acid guitar voltages; Dionysos unleashes into the Prince's New Day (Lever Du Prince), telling us nothing has changed and they're ready to deliver some solid heavy-prog/psych -- again Thibert's vocals are an acquired taste, wailing in overtones as he does. Chanson Du Courage and Demain La Vie are both outstanding, and even better is "Terreur Et Masque" due in great part to the saturated Hammond ogan. Most of the album is well in the line of what's been described so far, with plenty of great acid guitar and Hammond organ solos and when the needle lifts from the wax of side A and lands on the flipside (Prince Jardine means the prince is gardening), while it's still clearly the same group, the songwriting has taken on another dramatic turn with Mort De L'Aigle (Death Of The Eagle) and some truly demonstrative and descriptive playing that the power is shifting and the reign is over. There are some Spanish hints in the most dramatic of times. Ballade Inquiète is the prince realizing his carelessness, but he wonders way too late and the 13-mins+ title track is closing the story with again plenty of fantastic heavy organ/guitar jams in dramatic passages including some inventive vocals.

Lever du Prince (4:48)
Chanson du Courage (3:11)
Demain la Vie (4:20)
Terreur et Masque (3:19)
Le Prince Jardine (4:11)
Safari (5:28)
Ballade Inquiete (3:31)
Terreur et Jouie - Le Prince Croule (13:51)
