Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. 1. Very rare to find this in clean condition without wear...
  2. 54 years onward , black cover and no wear

Rare album in ANY condition == most likely Canned Heat's most hard to find --

The back cover sports photo of the infamous CANNED HEAT 'sterno' canister (in cobwebs) which was airbrushed out of their FIRST LP because: 'sterno' (a food warming fuel) was widely misused in the '60s to get one "high" ...

"Vintage Heat" is a terrific (really great stuff!!) album of prime CANNED HEAT, fiery blues garage cooker featuring tracks recorded in 1966, not released until here in '68.
  3. The tracks are quality studio outtakes that did not make their first LP because of time constraints, but by all rights should have been included.

How about Canned Heat taking on the Cream's "Spoonful" or Willie Dixon's "Pretty Thing" and a big ballsy blast of "Big Road Blues"...there is not one bad cut on this album...and beams in on why the Heat were such an important sound that turned young people onto the blues via their gritty smokehouse garage styles....

This album contains what are perhaps the earliest recordings by the Los Angeles-based Canned Heat, whose blend of rock with R&B suggested an aggregate from Chicago, Memphis, or New Orleans. In reality, they hailed from the Los Angeles suburb of Topanga Canyon, where they were contemporaries of soon-to-be proto-psych Spirit and Kaleidoscope. The personnel consists of Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson (guitar/harmonica/vocals), Stuart Brotman (bass), Henry "Sunflower" Vestine (guitar), Bob "The Bear" Hite (vocals), and either Keith Sawyer or perhaps Frank Cook (drums), the latter of whom took over the drummer's chair in 1966. The Heat's initial studio foray was helmed by none other than the legendary Johnny Otis, whose innumerable skills include producer. This union is indeed apt, as their seminal output consisted primarily of inspired and remarkably authentic readings of "Got My Mojo Working," "Spoonful" and "Pretty Thing," John Lee Hooker's "Louise" and "Dimples," and Elmore James' "Rollin' and Tumblin'" -- Their full-tilt renderings stay remarkably true to the originals, which remained at the core of the combo's mid-'60s repertoire, resurfacing on the Heat's Liberty Records debut LP, Canned Heat (1967). While this particular title is very rare now, the tracks that comprise Vintage Canned Heat issued in 1968.

They offer a taste of raw and undiluted Canned Heat before spurious management and substance abuse began to erode the unit's enormous soul

  4. Spoonful

    Pretty Thing

  5.                  CONDITION:

  6. The cover: rated: near M- which is something else BUT for one crease line only on far bottom left of front, not deep enough to go to back cover. Has NO shelf wear which is very uncommon , never found 54 years often in ANY condition (rare) ...there are no delete marks, no split seams, and no writing  ...
  1. The vinyl: Rated: near M- plays GREAT ... both Janus labels are clean

A cool addition to anyone's music library!
