(Robin Scott)
“NEW YORK, PARIS, LONDON, MUNICH”
MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original MCA Records very first PROMOTIONAL STEREO press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1980 by Discos Philips (Philips Records), with traditional “cloudy” MCA Records labels with black lettering, catalog number MAPS-9363, with hand etched matrix numbers MAPS-9363A in Side A and MAPS-9363B in Side B. WOW!!! Another rare album from Chile!!!
“NEW YORK, PARIS, LONDON, MUNICH” was originally released in 1979 but we had to wait until 1980 to see this album released in Chile and like in so many cases of the period we got an UNIQUE full laminated flipback cover made of a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle, with back cover pasted on the flips of front cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork, with only the album title. Back cover is totally different, because here in Chile they used the artwork of original inner sleeve, not the pictures of Albert Einstein, with album title at top edge, the tracklist at the mouth edge, written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriter Robin Scott, full credits at bottom left corner, MCA Records logo and catalog number at top right corner and year “1980” informed at bottom right corner!!! In labels the tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits. It’s interesting to notice that in back cover the sides are identified “LADO 1” (Side 1) and “LADO 2” (Side 2) but in labels they are only “A” and “B”, but the most interesting fact to notice it’s the PROMO STAMP in both front and back covers, and both labels, “DISCO PROMOCION – PROHIBIDA SU VENTA” (Promotional Record – Sale Forbidden) and the fact David Bowie participated in this record doing the handclaps!!! So, yes Sirs, here you have the chance to get and own this UNIQUE ISSUE of this classic and underrated early synthpop/new wave record with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER and PROMO-STAMPED!!! WOW!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in NM- or NM condition for both sides, clean and clear, complete, no marks or names written, only very light ring marks, some minimal wear in edges, seams and all edges fully intact. The record is in strong NM- or NM condition both sides, glossy and clean, with some very occasional and barely visible scuffs, which of course don’t affect play, no hairlines or scratches. Labels are in NM or NM+ condition, clean and clear both sides, absolutely free of marks ore ven spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong NM- or NM condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with only some occasional soft crackles here and there almost imposible to hear if you are not looking for them. Overall, this record will satisfy anyone from the beginning to the end, cover, labels and sound are in superb condition after about 43 years and keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER and UNIQUE PROMO STAMP!!! WOW!!! Another FIND FROM CHILE AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!
Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile
_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
