PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. TOP COPY ...STILL IN FACTORY SHRINK WRAPPER = Original 1970 first pressing of the mighty MC5's second album ...
... the 2nd album by the MC5, is loaded to the hilt with powerful rock'n'roll numbers, infectious jams that GROW with repeat listens ...tough straight ahead drivers moving the body & soul...
WE could well be the world's foremost authority on this LP! On the way it sounds, at least, having played it in it's entirely between three hundred and five hundred (who counts?) times. In fact, we just scored this record from a record store "collector" bin which suggested two things --(1) someone better replace their worn out copy now while you can still get it and (2) WHAT THE HELL IS THE GREATEST AMERICAN ROCK 'N' ROLL ALBUM OF MODERN HISTORY DOING IN A RECORD RACK??
Here's an LP that absolutely DRIPS brilliance off its grooves. An LP that, had it been a hit in early 1970 when it was released, would have been influential enough to have spawned a whole flock of blessfully incompetent imitations & thereby change the course of musical history forever. Or if not forever , then at least for a couple of years, anyway. Long enough to ensure that turning on the radio in early 1972 wouldn't have to be the real drag that it usually is. It doesn't help, really, that most of the critics who literally blasted the sh*t out of this album have now come back to glorify it - a real landmark record. It got the shaft for all kinds of reasons but all that counts is what happens when that needle hits the grooves, and nothing else. People were criticising this record because it signified that the MC5 wanted to be rock stars, because the MC5 deserted John Sinclair because the lyrics contained no revolutionary rhetoric, because some joker named Jon Landau was producing it (a rock media critic and nothing more) and because--this album floors us!
The MC5's second album is in many regards their best and most influential, its lean, edgy sound anticipating the emergence of both the punk and power pop movements to follow later in the decade. Bookended by a pair of ripping covers — "Tutti Frutti" and "Back in the U.S.A." — the record is as much a look back at rock & roll's origins as it is a push forward into the music's future; given the Five's vaunted revolutionary leanings, for instance, it's both surprising and refreshing to discover the record's emotional centerpiece is an infectious ballad, "Let Me Try," that's the most lovely and gentle song in their catalog. The recurring theme which drives Back in the USA is adolescence, its reminiscences alternately fond and embittered — while killer power-rock'n'roll cuts like "Tonight," "Teenage Lust," "High School," and "Shakin' Street" celebrate youth in all its rebellious glory, others like the kick-ass "The American Ruse" and the buzz-sawing "The Human Being Lawnmower" condemn a system which eats its young, filling their heads with lies before sending them off to war. Highlight is "Looking At You", an unsurpassed monster of total-assault intensity! Equally gripping is the record's singular sound — with an almost complete disregard for the bottom end, Back in the USA captures a live-wire intensity 180 degrees removed from the group's live sound yet perfectly suited to the material at hand, resulting in music which not only salutes the power of rock & roll but also reaffirms it.
