Johnny Winter is signed to CBS Records, for $300,000 a year, making him the highest paid musician in history at that point.
Winter was later to bitterly regrest at all this ballyhoo: "I had this "fu*kin' manager man. He made everybody think I got all that bread at one time. It was actually spread over a long time. I just wished I could give the whole goddam lot back and start over."
Winter's debut album for Columbia was also arguably his bluesiest and best. Straight out of Texas with his hot WINTER trio, Johnny made blues-rock music for the angels, tearing up a cheap Fender guitar with total abandon on tracks like "I'm Yours and I'm Hers," "Leland Mississippi Blues," and perhaps the slow blues moment to die for on this set, "Be Careful with a Fool" where he strings together a guitar break so fast and lengthy, it sizzles right off the fretboard. Winter's playing and vocals have yet to become mannered or clichéd on this session, and if you've ever wondered what the fuss is all about, here's the best place to check out his true legacy...

CONDITION: The cover: STILL IN ORIGINAL FACTORY SHRINK WRAPPER and...M- (the outer cellophane wrapper is torn just a little on front only, the exposed part is what keepes the cover from being stone mint, still it's a strong top level cover that otherwise is almost always found with shelf wear due to the dark color tones
