1971 HEAVY WAH-WAH GUITAR & SWIRL ORGAN ACID-PROGRESSIVE
VIRUS
THOUGHTS
\ GERMANY - T.P. -
SCARCE long, well over 10+ years & long gone = terrific high quality German 2ndpress with laminated gatefrold cover - just like the rare original...a highly prolific Krautrock heavy psych band with impact sound ... adventurous driving hammond organ & acid guitar within outstanding 'head' tracks all adds up to a legendary classic....
Virus were a psychedelic band originating from Bielefeld in Northern Germany. Their music incorporates Pink Floyd's space rock, heavy keyboards somewhat reminiscent of Deep Purple all put together into long songs filled with jams. They released only two albums -- "Revelation" (1970) and "Thoughts" (1971) ...There were even rumours saying that Uriah Heep’s Ken Hensley had been involved in making this record. And actually the style presented here wouldn’t be that far away from the one of that famous British band's early first two albums sound... and could be described as organ/hard guitar-dominated heavy blues rock. For fans and followers of early 70’s hard psych rock == anyone into early Purple, Heep, Sabbath...take notice. The impressive "King Heroin" opens the show with magic fingers organ that will instantly remind of early Deep Purple before quickly settling into a cool heavy groove all their own, within the lyrical content of dealing for heroin and turning into 'his magical dream' comes a powerful driving long passges filled with surging organ swirls and acidy wah-wah guitar that is followed by a sinister 'warning' recitation, all which makes this album as great as their first ...from their on they continue this type of heavy Kraut-psych sound, which leaves little wonder why the Pilz pressing goes upwards to $300+ ...
