Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. RARE and collectible ... 1970 first pressing in thick gatefold sleeve .......
The 2nd and sadly last Blodwyn Pig boasts the BIG sound of "A Head Rings Out" ...led by bruising blues guitarist Mick Abrahams, he of Jethro Tull's "This Was" LP delivers a fine album filled with complex drivers and plenty of emotional feel throughout the romp of varied tracks.
"Getting To This" is in the same mould as its ground-breaking predecessor "Ahead Rings Out" but blessed with even more invigorating edge and energy. It's a chaotic ball of noise from a wonderful era. The influence of Jack Lancaster's jazzy winds are much more strongly felt. It is a sometimes gentle and thoughtful, sometimes rocking fusion of harsh jazz, rock and blues.
"Variations On Nainos" with Jack Lancaster giving the one-legged, jockstrapped wonder a real run in the fluting race. The wind flourishes at the start of the song are a gas - pun not intended - and Andy Pyle’s bass licks during the band solos a wonder of the Western rock 'n' roll world.
The album's heaviest song is "Drive Me", featuring Abrahams' well lubricated larynx on fine form, great dynamics, and a central guitar solo that literally flies off the vinyl and soars round the ceiling like a cuttlefished canary while Pyle and Berg piledrive a backing.
All-too-short but delicious "Long Bomb Blues", delightfully sardonic and catchy, leading straight into "The Squirreling Must Go On" - a reference to the guitarist's "This Was" showcase of two years' previous, but much, much harder and relentless -- about as heavy as a band can get without getting heavy metal.
"Worry", a rare Andy Pyle composition, is very intense with rising and falling unison lines, a belting sax solo in a far off key, and big, bad, jazz-inflected chords bursting through an "Orange" amp to a fulcrum near you.
Whether Blodwyn Pig would have excelled in the same way as Tull at reinventing themselves at regular intervals and thus prolonging their career - who knows. Personalities went their separate ways long before the music lost its exuberance.
