MAD MIKE great local pittsburgh, PA garage surf soul LP Shipping Info  |  S/H info:   Description v/a MAD MIKE'S MOLDIES on NRM records (undated 196? private press). KILLER locals-only pennsylvania custom w/ 16 different bands. all of side one kicks ass - you'll hear garage/surf sounds from pat & the californians, jimmie heap (w/ amazing "gizmo! vocal break), kai ray (exotic surfy ripper), the instrumentals ("chop suey rock" !!), and three black soul & rock acts: vito & the salutations, the aquanites and harvey (killer tune: "any way you wanta"). great liners talk of mad mike's disdain for "pretentious and unsincere" top 40 DJs, "current trends" and his disinterest in "music quality", preferring crazy, strange, hip, "mad" sounds on his radio program and at the local dance parties he threw. side two is the ballad side with doo-wop, r&b and soul from: the arabians, leo wright & the el-jays, the fabulaires, the hollywood saxons, the del-cords, the chev-rons and the empires (great soul song "love you so bad"). a very fun record here and must be rare as hell. see my other auctions for a very cool mix of vintage oddities, curiosities and mixed-genre LPs.

COND: cover: g(-) mostly due to heavy shelf wear (see pics). also tape on lwr seam, name rubbed out front at top . disc: g (surfaces are vg to vg+. disc shows light warp not affecting play at all but in my system, the warp warrants a "g" grade.) . my grading system: nm/exc/vg+/vg/g
