I'M GONNA MAKE YOU LOVE ME is the first American release for Newark-born, British-blossomed singer, Madeline Bell. It might also serve as the title for her own life story. Where does a young American girl with a groovy voice go to get discovered? Why England, of course.
Dusty Springfield, for example, appreciated Madeline's ever-present support so much she insisted on appearing on Bell's debut album as a backing vocal. But for the session she was listed as "Gladys Thong."
While the song “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me” was the side that got all the attention back in 1968, it was the other side “Picture Me Gone” which is the one that’s endured with northern soul fans.
THIS PRESSING is the rare original American press on Mod Records. It was only out for an instant before Philips, her UK label, released it in America and the Mod record disappeared. Here’s a clean promo and it’s even in the seldom seen original company sleeve.
