Spellbinding film music for the obscure French / Brazilian co-production directed by Zygmunt Sulistrowski starring Annie Friedmann and Hugo Jorge. The soundtrack was released in Brazil in 1974 as A Virgem De Saint Tropez on the Fermata label but we prefer the Italian issue (with alternative sleeve artwork) licenced to Augusto Martelli's own private label. Cinematic sleaze mixing up psychedelic lounge / bossa / funk and jazz with tribal rhythm trax. Features several amazing themes including the fender rhodes funk of SAINT TROPEZ and COPACABANA ROCK with congas / B-Boy drums / wah wah / fuzz distortions and groovy blaxploitation style horn section / hallucinogenic mellow groove a la Marcos Valle with sleazy vocals on YOU CAN'T RUN AWAY FROM YOUR DESTINY and its scat reprise version NAO PODES FUGIR DO TEU DESTINO. Bossa with fender rhodes / bewitching voices and hip hop beats during the bridges of ESPAIRECENDO (again with that trippy Marcos Valle sound) and jazzy lounge on QUARTO DE HOTEL. Lots of spacey electric piano by Salvanini and fabulous drum skills by Toniquinho of Edgar E Os Tais - Cantarida Lp fame. Certain other themes feature sublime string orchestrations / trance-inducing percussion skits or more experimental arrangements with spooky electronics and syncopated piano. Our soundclip opens with the sinister lounge exotica of PERSEGUICAO ;) If you also like Arthur Verocai then this recording should blow you away. Sexy nude artwork sleeve. Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition overall with some hairlines and some faint, faded old pressing residue marks. Light surface noises. Soft pops / soft ticks in places (as you can hear on the soundclip) The laminated sleeve is closer to M- condition overall with some light creasing / bending down the spine side of the back sleeve. Light ring wear from storage. Minimal corner wear. Very sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Rare OST Lp!!!
