HI FOLKS.....GOT A VERY RARE RECORDING FOR YOU TO HAVE A GO AT......THE BAND IS MAGIC CARPET FEATURING A VERY PSYCHEDELIC SITAR AND THE LOVELY VOICE OF ALISHA SUFIT...
I ACTUALLY GOT THIS RECORD ABOUT 15 YEARS FROM ALISHA SUFIT THE SINGER AS SHE WAS A FRIEND OF MINE......I HADN'T SEEN HER FOR YEARS SINCE KNOWING HER AS A FELLOW BUSKER IN THE EARLY 60's/70's ..
.I BUMPED INTO HER IN THE HOLLOWAY ROAD ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO AND WE REKINDLED OUR FRIENDSHIP AND SHE HAD A FEW OF THESE ALBUMS IN HER ATTIC AS NOT MANY HAD SOLD...ANYWAY SHE GAVE ME THIS COPY..
ITHIS ALBUM HAS NOT BEEN OUT OF THE COVER AND IS TOTALLY MINT AND UNPLAYED....DUE TO THIS ALBUM BEING STORED WITH OTHER ALBUMS YOU WILL SEE ON THE REVERSE OF THE COVER THAT THE OUTLINE OF THE RECORD IS COMING THROUGH BUT APART FROM THAT THIS RECORD IS TOTALLY MINT..

Based around the classically trained sitar virtuoso Clem Alford and the breathtaking ethereal vocalist Alisha Sufit, Magic Carpet delivered perhaps one of the finest Indian-influenced psychedelic folk albums of the 1970's. Unfortunately this supremely talented collective split before the album was released. Opening with the title track this mystical instrumental raga sets the tone for this beautiful and deeply spiritual album. Alisha Sufit's astonishing vocal talents are" included in nine of the twelve tracks, the remaining three being instrumental. She also plays acoustic guitar.
This psych folk gem is a unique and extraordinary fusion of east and west, Magic Carpet being one of the very first bands truly to combine Indian and western instrumentation, with Jim Moyes playing guitar and Keshav Sathe on Tabla.
Only 1000 of this highly collectable original 1972 album were made.
