MAGIC MIRROR MOVIES SONG N STORY RED RAVEN RECORDS PHONOGRAPH COMPLETE.
You get the COMPLETE RED RAVEN set of records. All titles are included. There are two extra records thrown in. You get 20 records in all. 18 of them have covers/sleeves. The complete set has covers for all of them. The extra two have no covers. These record jackets are very hard to come by and are very rare. The Magic Mirror is in great condition, along with the records and phonograph. The phonograph does work and comes with the box. This is a rare find if you want the complete set. The records and phonograph are approx from the 50’s. Overall, all records look good and playable with no cracks.
Red Raven Movie Records were aimed at children and consisted of a phonograph record with a printed animation that could be viewed with a special mirror that sat on the record as it played. The Magic Mirror Movie Company that produced them was based in the US, but the records were also made under license by Trix for the UK market.
The record itself is played at 78 rpm, and is a little over 8-inches in diameter. Early pressing were apparently on laminated cardboard, followed by styrene, with vinyl used on later pressings. Different colours of records were available (though some turn black as they age) and 20 titles were available. No refunds or returns.
The 16 frame animation was placed around the edge of the centre label, which was much larger than normal. The Red Raven Magic Mirror, which looked like a carousel, was placed on the centre of the record, and as the record span, the animation appeared in the angled mirrors, in a similar way to a praxinoscope.
