MAGMA Live/Hhaï (Utopia CYL 2-1245) Didier Lockwood RARE French 1st Pressing MINT-
RARE original, very first French pressing of Magma`s classic live album "Live/Hhaï" on Utopia Records (1975).
Apart from Magma`s stupendous (and wonderfully-titled) "Mekanïk Destruktï? Kommandöh" (1973), their live double-album recorded in June 1975 at the Olympia in Paris must surely be rated the band`s next-to-finest hour. The only Magma album to feature a guest appearance by violin virtuoso Didier Lockwood, "Live/Hhaï" is an unchecked rampage through the world of Zeuhl - and a visionary quest to the outer reaches of progressive rock. Or of music per se, for that matter.
“One of the best live albums of all time, and this especially because of a young violinist named Didier Lockwood, who was only 17 or 18 when this album was recorded, but who would become a major figure in jazz and fusion later. Magma are absolutely dark and terrifying on this album, with superior vocals by Klaus Blasquiz and Stella Vander. GRADING:
EX(+) COVER with some minor all-round wear. Please see the photos for details.
- Original fully laminated gatefold sleeve with slight signs of long-time storage.
- Light record imprint on front and back covers.
- Slight scuffing to bottom corners (at right), as well as bottom edge.
- A few superficial creases along the top edge.
- Includes two brand-new, appropriately black polylined inner sleeves.
MINT- RECORDS, played a few times at most.
- Near-perfect vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- A few near-invisible hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- Two superficial paper scuffs (not scratches!) on Side C are absolutely inaudible.
- Original French first-pressing Utopia Records labels with no spindle wear whatsoever.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "CYL 2. 1245 A XXXXX T2 SP" and "CYL 2. 1245 B XXXIX T2 SP" on Sides A and B, respectively "CYL 2. 1245 C T2 SP" and "CYL 2. 1245 D T2 SP" on Sides C and D.
- This record is fully certified to be a very first French pressing of "Live/Hhaï", released in 1975.
