Description

PLEASE NOTE OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS I WILL BE LISTING NUMEROUS RECORDS FROM A VERY WELL PRESERVED COLLECTION OF CLASSICAL RECORDS. MANY OF THE EXAMPLES IN THIS COLLECTION ARE SOME OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY TEN YEARS BUYING AND SELLING RECORDS. SOME EXAMPLES ARE IN A STATE OF REMARKABLE PRESERVATION EX+ TO NEAR MINT IF NOT BETTER.
THE PREVIOUS OWNER PURCHASED THESE RECORDS DURING THE 1960'S AND 1970S, PLAYED THEM A FEW TIMES (IF AT ALL, IN SOME CASES, I WOULD GUESS) AND PLACED THEM IN PROTECTIVE SLEEVES AND STORED THEM (CORRECTLY) VERTICALLY FOR MANY YEARS, UNUSED AND UNTOUCHED,  (BECAUSE OF THIS I WOULD SUGGEST A PROFESSIONAL CLEAN TO ENHANCE THE AUDIO).
PLEASE ADD ME TO YOUR SAVED SELLERS LIST AND CHECK MY ITEMS LISTED FOR SALE, I WILL HAPPILY COMBINE POSTAGE ON MULTIPLE PURCHASES.

This auction is for the following record LP

ASD 596
EXCELLENT PLUS A beautiful example that has been well preserved. It has retained a deep glossy shine throughout both sides. In very bright light and at certain angles there are a couple of very light, inconsequential, wispy, inner sleeve marks in places, these are very few and far between and barely noticed. There are couple of faint light marks/hairlines in places but again nothing heavy. A very nice example of this highly sought after recording.

I have listened to both sides of the record and it was Excellent. There is some very light background noise light crackle noticed intermitently throughout, mainly in some of the quieter, sparse passages, and barely noticed if at all during busier louder passages. Some occasional light pops but nothing unexpected. A very pleasant listen throughout. Please do remember that this record has been very well preserved but has not been cleaned for many years, so a professional clean would be recommended.

ASDS 597
VERY GOOD (one sided lp as issued), Certainly not the greatest example visually, there are numerous light marks with some heavier marks, there is some inner sleeve marks noticed, with some occasional surface marks and minor hairlines. There is a mark that can be felt in places which has brought the visual grading down (see photographs).

I have listened to side one (no side two) and considering the noted heavier mark the audio was better than the visual would suggest.
There is some very light background noise light crackle noticed intermitently throughout, mainly in some of the quieter, sparse passages, and barely noticed if at all during busier louder passages. I noticed various area of light to medium soft ticks for short periods. When the neddle is playing through the area where there is an intermitent feelable mark there were various soft ticks with occasional louder ticks being produced, there were moments when there was barely any ticks through this area and it played suprisingly better through this area. The louder busier Orchestral parts mask quite a lot of the surface marks and generally it graded very well. There are large sections of audio that are much better around the EXCELLENT area.

Noticed approximate audio faults are noted below including approximate times where these faults were heard on the running time.
14 loud ticks at 4mins 30 Seconds
2 soft ticks at 7mins 50 Seconds
5 ticks at 8 mins 50 Seconds
9 soft ticks at 11 mins 45 Seconds
From 19 minutes 45 Seconds approx to the end of the side (approx 23 minutes).
There are various short sections of soft to loud ticks noticed for approx 3 mins 30 seconds, to include approx 6 loud ticks, 2 loud ticks, 14 loud, 18 medium ticks at various points. This list of faults is of course estimates  but it gives you an idea of what to expect when listening to it.
So as you can see the majority of the audio fell soundly with an Excellent grade with some additional intermitent surface noise more noitced in quieter sections, as expected for this grade.
Please do remember that this record has been very well preserved but has not been cleaned for many years, so a professional clean would be recommended.

Sleeve EX/EX+

The sleeves are solid example and nicely preserved.  The fronts have been beautifully kept with only light marks noticed. There is some very light handling marks but nothing heavy or distracting, with some very minor edge/corner wear, light corner rubbing etc.
There are some light surface marks but nothing heavy or distracting, some light creasing just noticed in the top right corners.
The backs are well preserved, with some light wear, minimal discolouration, slight toning and minor marks to the white area, with some light discolouration to the flip back edges as is often seen. There is some light creasing in the top left corners (corresponding with the creasing to the front). Both sleeves in consistent condition with each other.
Solid clean examples falling somewhere between Excellent and Excellent Plus.
