Description
Mahler vinyl LP record - Symphonie No 4 - a digital recording from 1988 on Deutsche Grammophon, catalogue number 423 607-1, matrix numbers 423607-1 S 1=2 and 423607-1 S 2=2. It is still in its original shrinkwrap, with the original price sticker, and includes the 6 page, tri-fold insert.
The record is in EX- condition. The vinyl is bright and shiny, with just a couple of light hairlines, the most noticeable being on side 2, although even that one does not affect play. The record plays well, with a clear sound, no repeats or jumps, but there is frequent (but not constant) light crackle evident, and occasional minor clicks and pops, mostly audible during quieter passages. I have cleaned it a couple of times, but further cleaning may be of benefit. In my opinion, these defects are a little annoying, but they do not spoil the record.
However, if you want a perfect record with no crackles at all, this one is NOT for you. I don't want to put potential buyers off, as I know it's a very rare record, but equally I don't want to mislead anyone to the point where they want to return it, or leave unfavourable feedback.
The outer sleeve is EX. It is still in its original shrinkwrap, which has kept it clean, and there is really virtually nothing wrong with it. The shrinkwrap has not contracted (as it often does, causing the sleeve to become crinkled and mis-shapen).
The original poly-lined inner sleeve is EX-/VG+, with a couple of small tears on one side, and some light creases, although no writing or edge splits - the pictures show the condition better than I can describe it.
The insert is EX. Bright white and very clean, with just a couple of very light creases.
As with all the items I'm selling a full refund is offered if the winning bidder is not happy with the quality of the item, as long as it is returned to me in the same condition as it is now.
Having said that, I have made the condition as clear as I can, possibly even exaggerating its shortcomings, so I really hope whoever purchases it will not feel the need to return it, even though the option is available.
