Description
This is a RARE find of a 45-year old Northern Soul classic!!!!! Major Lance double-sided 10" 45 RPM Audiodisc A-203 METAL ACETATE featuring Delilah (2:10 running time - sounds like the released version) and what is possibly an unreleased version of Keep On Loving You (2:25 running time - the released version is slow and features horns, the version I have comes across in an upbeat Sam Cooke-style without horns). In the linked MP3 sample of the two songs you'll hear at the 22-second point a little sound, which could be a cleared throat right before the song started. PLEASE NOTE: Up for auction this week I also have a single-sided Major Lance acetate of Everytime, so please search for that one too. I will combine multiple wins to save you on S/H.
Just a note for those unfamiliar with metal acetates - these records are extra heavy from the center of the record being made of metal. These records are the first versions ever made from the master tapes (even before test pressings or promo copies and sound the best) for the purpose of feedback on the mix by those involved in the recording process. These discs were expensive to make, so very few, if no more than one are usually made and as you can imagine, these discs are quite RARE and sometimes the mixes can be different than the final release. These were never meant to be available to the public, so in you're a fan or collector, now's your chance to get something extrememely RARE!!!
This 10-inch 45 is on an Audiodiscs A-203 acetate and has no labels, but does have the titles in white grease pencil and the name or signature of Major Lance in orange grease pencil on one side. The vinyl on both sides of this 45 is in very good condition and plays solidly without skipping, but does have some pops and ticks here and there, which doesn't effect the enjoyment and collectibility of this disc.
