Up for bids is a great, rare, mono Jazz LP by Mal Waldron called "Mal/4". New Jazz Records. NJLP 8208. 1958.ORIGINAL 1ST PRESSING!
DEEP GROOVE PRESSING!
PURPLE LABELS WITH "A PRODUCT OF PRESTIGE RECORDS INC., 203 S. WASHINGTON AVE., BERGENFIELD, N.J." ADDRESS ON BOTH!
Both sides' Trail-Off's have the stamped "RVG".
Front of cover is laminated.
BACK OF COVER HAS "203 SO. WASHINGTON AVE., BERGENFIELD, N.J." ADDRESS, BOTTOM-RIGHT.
Comes with original rice paper inner sleeve in VG condition (record will be shipped in separate polylined sleeve and outside cover).
NOTE:
The grades I use are Mint (rarely used grade), Near Mint, VG+++ (rarely used grade), VG++, VG+, VG, VG Minus, Good+, Good, Fair and Poor.
Cover is in VG++ condition. Front and back have minor wear. No splits! All cover sides are completely intact! Look at that spine photo! Just a little bit of tearing at the spine's bottom. Strong and sturdy, this is a prime example of this cover!
I would rate the record’s condition as a STRONG VG to VG++. Weird grade, I know, but read on .... Looks gorgeous with mostly visual superficial marks that do not affect play. However Side B has what appears to be a semi-deep hairline scratch during the first track. It does tick, but inconsistently. Both sides have some small pressing marks in only a couple of spots that create a faint brushing sound (mainly heard on band strip). This is the reason for the "VG" part in my grading. But, despite these imperfections, this has to be one of the best sounding records I have ever heard! The record's fidelity still sounds truly amazing on my player! GOD BLESS RUDY VAN GELDER ......... really.
