Description
Extra SE 8
Artist: Miss Hasnah with the Sweet Malay Entertainers
Tracks: Sebatang Padi / Ana Masrie
Nice mid-century Malay music, with harmonium, drum, and small group (including fiddle). Has that loping, swoony and weirdly stoned quality to it. One song is a "masri" song, the other is labeled "rumba" - but do not be deterred, the rumba is not really jazzy and is actually the best side.
Extra was a short lived label based in Pelambang, Indonesia, from the 40s. Beautiful label, too.
Condition: E+ (perfect copy, plays E- due to typically grainy pressing)
I will be selling a lot of amazing discs from around the world in the coming months. Please bookmark me and check back in.
