MALIK YAQUB "Yaqub Speaks Vol. 1" LP   **original private pressing (out of San Francisco, CA) of this highly sought-after and extremely rare free/afro/spiritual jazz album - STILL SEALED!!**   Yaqub played with such notable artists as Nathan Davis, Charles Kynard, Elmo Hope, Bud Powell, Jackie McLean, Art Blakey and more. He has been compared to the great Charlie Parker... Yaqub's story includes two prison terms; the first, a three year bid in the early 60's for refusing military induction and the second on marijuana charges (a topic that - for 'religious reasons' - he seems to be very passionate about). This album, "Yaqub Speaks, Vol. 1" was originally sold for a $20 'donation' to aid in the construction of a worldwide (and exclusively female) "Gerentological, Gynecological, Musicological Center, for the unique purpose of adhering to the sciences governing spiritual advancement, that exponentiate by way of the womb, furtherto, near OPHIR."   Album is still sealed; there is a hint of wear on corners due to age; shrink is starting to come apart on one corner, nothing serious...    This is a rare gem for jazz collectors - don't sleep on this one!!   Personnel: Malik Yaqub - tenor sax / piano; J.J.
