Original 1972 lp on Philips (6369153) Mama Lion – Preserve Wildlife. Scarce uk lp from this amazingly funky psychy rock outfit.This was their first lp and it’s an absolute gem with some killer tracks.Several tracks that would work as part of a folk funk set or a psychy funk set too.Mad funky psych rock with some real nice crisp headnodding beats,bass,wicked organ lines,lovely keys,fuzz guitar as well as some great female vocals too.Loads of nice loops and stabs for the producers.The lp kicks off with an absolutely blazing version of ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’.Must be the best version of this track I’ve ever heard.Scorching organ lines,spaced out guitar lines and tight wah chops,wicked vocal delivery and super heavy tight snappy beats,couple of nice open breaks too.Loads more top tracks including Wildcat,Sister Sister,Can’t Find My Way Home,It’s Only A Dream,etc. The overall sound of this lp reminds me a bit of Ellen McIlwaine.Real heavy psychy funky rock with amazing vocals as well as instrumentation. Top tracks for the djs as well as producers.Scarce lp that is really hard to find and this one is in incredible condition with the cut out gatefold sleeve complete and untorn.
