Description
The original 1968 jewel cased UK EMI (Stateside) reel to reel mono tape of The Mamas and Papas "Hits Of Gold" album in very good and complete condition. 3& 3/4 ips Tested and audio particularly excellent. Includes "California Dreamin", "Dedicated To One I love", " I Saw Her Again Last Night" "Monday Monday" and more (See track list photo)
All indications are that this has been carefully looked after. The presence of the warranty slip, Emitape leaflet, "Stateside" logo sticker and particularly excellent mono sound coming over strongly and clearly throughout both tracks. (Mono tapes can be played on 4 track stereo tape recorders) Even the retailer's sticker is present on the front of the jewel case.
Must be as rare as hen's teeth - 99% bought the vinyl album. The tape releases were sold by special order with the retailers to audiophiles who wanted quality sound. Consequently rare.
A folk pop group closely associated with the music of the Summer of Love 1967, with Scott McKenzie ("San Francisco") as a member of one of their previous incarnations (The Journeymen), only Michelle Phillips survives at age 74.
