Description
AS I've said before in this space, any record by vaudevillenne JANE GREEN is proof of her superior, prophetic skills as both a singer and as a musician. Here she is in 1923, in her debut session for Victor: "MAMMA LOVES PAPA" and the inevitable sequel, "MAMMA GOES WHERE PAPA GOES (Or Papa Don't Go Out To-Night!)"
She's accompanied here by ROSS GORMAN and the VIRGINIANS, Victor's crack studio jazz band of the time. Together, they make an expert team. Jane cleansed all her arrangements of "fiddly bits," stripping them to the bone, and Gorman's boys are up to the challenge. Besides Green's silvery, pitch-perfect contralto, amazing swing, and gorgeous enunciation, you get Gorman's "Jazzy" clarinet, with which he would soon (February, 1924) create the startling glissando opening of "Rhapsody in Blue."
This original 1923 "Bat-Wing" Victor 19215 is in glossy EE- condition. The slightest patina of having been gently used.

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
