THE MANDRAKE MEMORIAL : THE MANDRAKE MEMORIAL

Near Mint First Issue on Poppy ~ Cover is in Excellent condition

Poppy/MGM PYS 40,002 ~ 1968 ~ Stock copy ~ Original labels

Cover grades EX but is not far from NM-. There is with minor ring wear, especially visible on the mostly black back cover. There is also a small hole punch near the bottom left corner (see scan). The spine is basically intact but has some flaking problems, especially in the center & near the bottom. There is very slight corner wear, mainly at the bottom of the spine. Both seams are intact with slight flaking. Overall, the cover is in Excellent shape.

The seldom-seen, very cool early Poppy labels are sharp with no spindle marks, writing, stamps etc.(see scans)

The record is thick, black & shiny and shows little or no signs of wear. Thus it recieved a sight grade of Near Mint.
Playing the record proved this to be an accurate grade.

The Bear Says : "Here is a lovely first issue copy of THE MANDRAKE MEMORIAL, the self-titled debut LP by a Philadelphia-based experimental Psych outfit issued on the fledgling Poppy label in 1968, (possibly the second LP to ever be issued on Poppy.) The cover design is by the artist Milton Glaser, (famous for his Dylan flower-head poster.) This 38 year-old first issue is in exceptional shape, perfect for the collector. THE MANDRAKE MEMORIAL was an excellent psychedelic band that deserved greater exposure. Check out "House of Mirrors" and "Dark Lady" !!"
