MANFRED MANN ''AS IS'' L.P.1st UK PRESSING! ORIGINAL ((MONO)) FONTANA LABELS CAT NO. TL5377 NEAR MINT VINYL! NEAR MINT AUDIO THROUGHOUT! (NO) CLICKS OR POPS! BARELY PLAYED MORE THAN A HANDFUL OF TIMES!

EARLIEST #1#1 MATRIX ENDINGS!!! RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER 44 YEARS OLD LIKE THIS!!!

Here from my personal collection, I have had this album from new, and it has only ever been played a handful of times ever in 44 years! The vinyl and audio are absolutely stunning! This album would be graded as near mint apart from slight storage ware at the rear of the cover but nothing too bad in my opinion the front laminate is truly awesome, super glossy appearence! (see photos) This album is quite scarce and very collectable to find like this! It is the earliest 1st UK pressing with #1 #1 matrix endings!!

Manfred Mann were a British beat, rhythm and blues and pop band of the 1960s, named after their South African keyboard player and founder who later led the successful 1970s group Manfred Mann's Earth Band!!.

The Mann-Hugg Blues Brothers (as the band were originally called) were formed in London in December 1962 by keyboard player Manfred Mann and drummer/vibes player Mike Hugg. Born out of the British blues boom then sweeping London's clubs (which also spawned the Rolling Stones and the Yardbirds), the band was completed by Mike Vickers on guitar, alto saxophone and flute, Dave Richmond on bass, and Paul Jones fronting as lead vocalist and harmonica player; by this point, they had changed their name into Manfred Mann & The Manfreds. Gigging constantly throughout late 1962 and early 1963, the band soon attracted attention for their distinctive sound propelled by Mann's keyboards, Jones' soulful vocals and the group's overdubbed instrumental soloing!!.

The group signed to HMV Records in March 1963 after a change of name to Manfred Mann (at the suggestion of their label's producer), and debuted in July of that year with the jazzy instrumental single "Why Should We Not?", which failed to chart, as did the follow up (with vocals this time), "Cock-A-Hoop"!

'As is' is their fourth album released in the UK in October 1966 on the Fontana record labels catalogue number TL/STL 5377 !!!

The vinyl

This is the original thick heavy and chunky type of vinyl only found like this on the earliest press! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable!!!

On initial inspection, this vinyl has retained its original sheen from new and truly looks awesome, almost like new in my opinion!,, for 44 years old quite unbeleivable!!! I can barely see a blemish on the playing surface!! If looked at under strong light could possibly be seen sleeve removal only. To be honest it is hard for me to even see a blemish! Please note there are no needle scratches or any audio sounding marks at all that i can see or hear!!Unbeleivable to find like this on a 44 year old vinyl! Superbe!

The Audio

I have played this vinyl track for track at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio sounds absolutely stunning throughout,,, as new in my opinion!! Cristal clear and vibrant on all frequencies! (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps Very rare to find like this!!! You will find it hard to find better! Points to note! Amaizinglty i heard non of the usual background or surface noise, that is common on a vinyl of this age even between tracks it is lovely and quiet!!!!Stunnining top! Top! audio!! NEAR PERFECT ON MY SYSTEM! I would class myself as highly critical, Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!Audio graded as good as it gets in my opinion! Stunning Near mint mono audio without interfearance!! 

Please note! I always addd this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a 44 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 44 year old system!!!

This vinyl has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover and sleeve and has been laying dormant for over 40 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static. A constant clean before each play is highly recomended! This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality! I must emphisise that in my opinion this played absolutely perfect on my system as good as it gets!!! 

The labels

Feature the original FONTANA LABELS! (ONLY 1ST PRESS) (No) nasty names or marks! Amaizingly I can just barely see one or perhapes two spider marks only! unbeleivable to find like this! In my opinion this looks barely played for 42years old. Little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round! (see photos)

The Cover

This is the original 1st issue 1st UK press laminated front flipback rear cover! Absolutely stunning super glossy appearance! Amaizingly there are (no) real main creases at the front in the laminate to talk of, rarely seen like this! minor small crease at the opening edge barely noticable unless looked for. There are no splits or tares , all writing at the spine is legable! There is some storageware scuffing at the rear in one place only however, and some light staining\fading with age but in general this is strong and straight for 44 years old is quite exceptional in my opinion!
