MANIC STREET PREACHERS - FEMININE IS BEAUTIFUL original first issue U.K. 7" single featuring New Art Riot b/w Repeat After Me released in 1991 on the CAFF label CAFF 15.
Description :
Mega rare and hard to find early Manics single. In October 1989 Melody Maker printed the first Manics live review to appear in the mainstream music press. It had been written by St Etienne's Bob Stanley. Bob and Richey corresponded via post over the next 18 months and later in July 1991 Bob was given the go ahead to release a 500-only 7" featuring two demos from an early Manics demo cassette. These raw recordings of 'New Art Riot' and 'Repeat After Me' were issued under the banner 'Feminine Is Beautiful' and were only available via mail order.
This is one of their rarest releases which should be the highlight of any Manic's collection. It also comes complete with the original Bob Stanley insert which states :
"Xmas 1989. Blackwood, South Wales. Four lads with a love of mascara and a worn out video of "rude boy", pool their giros to record a demo. Picture them walking into the studio: James with a look on his face that screams out "smash the system", drummer Sean just 14, Richey with his beautiful brown eyes, and Nick with a chick on each arm and bits of pizza down the front of his shirt. They are revolution flowers. They're in the studio 40 minutes - it's all they can afford. They record two songs, no time for overdubs. They sound fucking great. Here they are. Enjoy, enjoy, Bob x"
