Songs that were received by musical subjects during or around the Ayahuasca ritual. These here are all original compositions, received and then arranged by the members of the Brazilian Ayahuasca circle, Mantric Mambo. The lyrics are devotional and unusually deep and heartfelt, and are sung in Portuguese. The CD contains the lyrics for better appreciation of the poetry and for you to sing along. The arrangement is very interesting, fusing very elegantly the ancient enchantment with contemporary musical elements. Many different tribal instruments, acoustic and synthesized, are presented: from original Peruvian flutes to Brazilian berimbao, African bongos, Indian Jew’s harp, Australian didgeridoo, Caribbean guitars and roovy dub bass lines. All wonderfully woven together with enchanting voices singing melodies so sweet and uplifting and yet intense. The difference with this ethno album is that it is very groovy. Like something you listen to at home and show your friends. Listening to this is an experience of healing and yet you can also dance!
a folksy organic transcendental vibe (most often sung in Portuguese). Some of my current favorites of her extensive discography are Mantric Mambo: Music from the world of Ayahuasca (1, 2 & 3). Mantric Mambo #3 is departure from her usual fare. It’s a dub record written by another member of her temple, singer-songwriter Raghini with Yatra’s vocals; hauntingly numinous traditional Brasilian melodies infused with ayahuasca mysticism in a hot bed of dub grooves. Beautiful, sacred, traditional, magical, sexy (she is an Osho devotee)...Brazilian. The instrumentation includes fl ute, piano, bass, guitar, didgeridoo and bongos and, of course, Yatra’s transcendental pipes. It was recorded at Yage studios in Alto Parasio and Poli’s studio in Amsterdam.
Mantric mambo é um projeto musical e ao mesmo tempo a definição de um estilo. Nascidas da vivência do grupo como músicos dos rituais de ayahuasca no Templo Mãe D'água, as músicas são orações, chamadas, invocando as forças da natureza, a sutileza do amor, trazendo a cura da floresta. A experiência desses músicos com outros projetos musicais criaram a fusão dessas preces com diferentes ritmos de raizes latino-americanas misturadas a um toque de "electronic". Esta fusão de ritmos, vozes, instrumentos acústicos, sintetizadores e guitarras elétricas proporciona um efeito hipnótico e envolvente trazendo a sensação de estar ouvindo a música como se estivesse sob o efeito da ayahuasca. O Templo Mãe D'água esta situado em Alto Paraíso -Go, Brasil, terra mística conhecida por suas belezas naturais e grande concentração de cristais.
