MARIE LITTLE – Factory Girl *ORIG Argo LP* ZFB 19 (UK, Stereo, 1971)
Very pleased to offer a near unbeatable original UK 1st (and only) press of this tremendous folk debut from 1971. This came from the Ian Chappell folk collection which was auctioned in June of this year. This collection featured an incredible array of rare UK folk LPs in tip-top condition: Vashti Bunyan, Spriguns, C.O.B, Shirley Collins, Mushroom, Nick Drake, Stone Angel, Davy Graham plus hundreds more. Anyone who was there or read about the collection will know how fastidiously looked after these records were. Here is one of them.
The front-laminated single-format sleeve is in a spectacular M- (Mint Minus) condition. So often you hear the carelessly used ‘mirror-like surfaces’ phrase – when in reality a lot of folk need to get their glasses on! Well here is a front laminate that lives up to the bill. Lovely and shiny, the front has a single small and soft crease to the bottom edge and the very faintest of ring impression when tilted into the light. No real rubbing at all! Superbly defined corners! Perfect spine! Unblemished still-white rear panel! There are no splits, tears, writing, scrapes or bends. The opening edges are completely without feathering and look as fresh as the day they were brought home. An absolutely immense sleeve which will surely delight. Brilliant!
The original yellow Argo labels are also in an immaculate state. No Spindle evidence at all to my eyes! NO writing, NO residue, NO nothing! Incredible pair of these vintage labels.
The medium to heavy weight vinyl is stunning. Very slight dishing and there is a super-faint surface scuff to one side but other than this, no marks and a beautiful ‘as new’ shine. By that I mean this record does truly look factory fresh. NO scratches, NO hairlines, NO scrapes. Visually, it grades a true M- (Mint Minus). IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays superbly as you would expect from such a good looking disc. So NO snap, crackle or pops. NO clicks, hiss, distortion or loss of clarity/lack of definition. Possibly a couple of soft ticks towards the end of Side 2 but this is splitting hairs. Brilliant play!
Supplied in its original early 70s blue stereo inner, if you’ve been looking for the best copy of this seminal folk album still out there, then you may just have found it…
