Description
I will declare a lower amount on the customs form for all countries so as to avoid/decrease high import charges. However, in the case of the EU all purchases are subject to VAT which eBay collect at point of sale. No shipping to Russia currently.
Marillion : Script For A Jester's Tear A-1U / B - 1U 1st Press 1983 (Cream labels)
Time is against me so I am unable to describe each track with the usual detail but please be rest assured I will keep to my own high end standards. I will still play each track in full so as to give a 'complete' grade.
This first press is absolutely STUNNING and has to be the finest example I have ever listened to. There is no intrusion of any kind and that is not an exaggeration. Every section plays with a clarity of sound that is comparable to an un-played vinyl it is that good, the playback is 'as new' and it qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE in every sense.
A genuine first press has the A1 / B1 matrix and the labels are cream coloured with red EMI logos. The rim text is red and runs anticlockwise.

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. S1 is pristine and on S2 you can only see some very faint hairline 'flecks' but only when you hold the vinyl at an angle under a bright light. The cream labels are unmarked and only the S1 label has one tiny barely visible spindle trace.
Play grading
This genuine first press plays with STUNNING quality on both sides. The quiet intro on 'Script...' quite simply plays 'as new' with no interference and the emotive end section is superb with not even a dust tick. 'He Knows You Know' and 'The Web' also play with a sonic quality that is second to none. All of S1 plays with perfect clarity, depth and resonance, it just could not play any better.
The long 'build up' intro on 'Garden Party' has no background and the remainder of this classic then plays with outstanding clarity and power. Seriously has this vinyl ever been played before?! 'Chelsea Monday' also plays with STUNNING audio from the first note to the last with no intrusion. Honestly the clarity of sound is just incredible, I cannot emphasise just how clean and precise the audio is. 'Forgotten Sons' ends this classic album with impeccable quality once more. No ticks, clicks, pops or static just pure unadulterated Mint audio throughout and once again you cannot fault the clarity, depth and power of the audio.
The Gatefold & Inner SleeveThe cover is in lovely condition with only very minimal shelf wear. The top edges are super clean with only a couple of minor rubs and the bottom edge of the front cover has just a little rubbing in the centre. The wide spine is superb with barely any wear on the corners and the right hand corners are just as impressive. The opening edge has no handling wear (no surprise!) and the front cover is pristine with no marking. The back cover is almost as good with only a minor hint of ringwear and some very faint marking that you can only see when you hold the cover at a certain angle under a bright light. A superb example overall.
The original poly-lined die-cut inner is in great shape with only some minor creasing and some of those glue 'spots' that often come through.
Play tested on my Rega P2 with Rega Carbon Cart / Denon PMA-520AE Amp / B&W 684 Speakers
This record has been professionally cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
