Italian pressing, Meridiana SMR 501 (~1969)
Top rare Italian library by Mario Nascimbene on his own label Meridiana. Just a few people knew that Side A is the original soundtrack source of the stage show BELLINDA E IL MOSTRO. Lke 'Atmosfera' library by Roberto Nicolosi, this is a complete and serious Italian jazz soundtrack. Players not mentioned, but certainly Roberto Pregadio at the piano & organ with his group: Beppe Carta (bass), Roberto Zappulla (drums) and Franco Chiari (vibes) plus Bruno Battisti D'Amario (guitar), Nino Culasso (trumpet), Baldo Maestri (alto sax) and Mario Midana (trombone)
Includes the furious funky hammond modal jazz beat IL DUELLO with a very PREGADIO's 'Organ+Piano+Spinetta' Library feeling, the superb psychedelic spy modern jazz VIAGGIO DEL MIMO, the killer hard bop IL MIMO E LA ROSA, the amazing Piero Piccioni style scat & strings lounge theme CANZONE PER BELLINDA, the superb blue jazz theme VIAGGIO DEL MENDICANTE, the old fashioned jazz ADAGIO CONTEMPLATIVO (with muted trumpet solo) and more on the clip!
Side B is purely library oriented including the insane FUGATO IN BLUE track with obsessive electronics FX drum machine intro going into a killer organ jazz theme. More psychedelic weird jazz on the killer AFRO CUBAN SWING (with groovy percussions) and on BLUES FINALE. Strong shades of Brugnolini's 'Arcangeli' on the superb jazz theme SOUND IN JAZZ! More jazz greatness on the recorded soundclip! Rare!
