Description

MARK MELANSON -- The Haunted Hearse -- ex. rare original 1970 U.S. album.  Mesmerizing and wonderful journey into the outer limits of DIY private press Acid Folk-Folk Psych, highlighted by Melanson's from-the-depths-of-a-watery-grave vocals and impenetrably strange lyrics on otherworldly tracks like "I Wrote Your Name," "Seas of Lemon Trees," "Rashalee," and "Pieces In the Sand."  You'll either love this record or hate it; personally, I love it and think it's musically much more listenable than other far-out DIY Acid Archives rarities like Peter Grudzien's "The Unicorn."  Melanson toured the U.S. in the late 1960's in a psychedelic-painted hearse and trailer he dubbed "The Master Winder," selling home-made jewelry, singing songs and promoting his Functionist Philosophy (the insert from 1970 tells you more than you need to know about this ...)  A truly haunting gem that grows and grows on you with each listen.  This almost never comes up for sale, so get it while you can.  Includes insert sheet.  Cover:  VG+, ring wear and wear at corners, removable price sticker upper right corner.  Record:  VG+, light surface scuffs from storage in sleeve; these do not affect play on my turntable -- on red New York Color Esoterics private label, U.S. press.  Please note:  overseas shipping is via Priority International Mail with insurance and delivery confirmation.
