One of a kind item here! A copy of this already very rare private press LP (Acid Archives claims two pressings of 100) completely personalized by the creator of this music, Mark Tucker. Most copies that come up of this album are simply the plain white stock cover with the title in stencil spray painted on. This copy has that and so much more! The cover has 4 lines in black marker surrounding the stencil title. At the bottom of the cover is a quote from Charles Dickens’ A Chrismas Carol written free-hand. The back of the album is completely covered in Tucker’s writing in various colors with a few intricate illustrations. The writing includes a transcribed interview with Mark; a notebook excerpt from July 27th, 1975; a humorous “Ask S.B.T.” Dear Abby-type take off; a listing of other “spools” to hear, including albums by Neu and Cluster (!); a “Notes On Batstew” section; a “Comments On Batstew” section, and finally a Warning (see photos.) The disc labels have also been colored and decorated with marker (see photos.) Along the spine, Mark has intricately written-out the album name and info. The mimeographed insert is complete and in great shape. No tears or creases. I would grade it VG++. The jacket is in amazing condition as well with a bit of ring wear and very light wear to the corner’s and the jacket’s opening, but overall, very nice and clean. No split seams. Grades VG+. The vinyl is visually super clean and glossy- under strong light there are a few stray, very light, minor marks. On playback, the record’s overall sound stunning and clear, though there are some passages of moderate crackle at times. It is not overwhelming however. From what I understand, this was a cheap pressing and tends to have some noise. This copy is by no means compromised- it plays wonderfully overall. I would grade the vinyl VG+.
