“Wade In The Water” was a pretty big hit song at the time, with instrumental and versions being recorded left and right. This one from Marlena Shaw has a great gospel / soul feel to it and is probably the sort of thing she was doing to keep the Count Basie Band up to date when she was singing with them. This record finds her before she ever had any of her hits and is the first of several singles she cut for Cadet.

Tracks here are “Wade In The Water” and “Show Time.” This one is from October 1966.
