Description

Maro Ajemian ( July 9, 1021 - September 18, 1978 ) was an American pianist, studied at the Juillard School of Music. On March 14, 1942, she gave the American premiere of Aram Khachaturian's Piano Concerto in D flat major, began meeting contemporary composers, and together with her sister, the violinist Anahid Ajemian, she became known as champion of new music by John Cage, Alan Hovhaness, Ernest Krenek, Henry Cowell, Gunter Schuller and Lou Harrison.

12" Album Set with 3 records Asch 877: John Cage, Three Dances  on 6 parts with Maro Ajemian and William Masselos at the John Cage-prepared piano ( see pictures ). An unusual piano-sound !!! Recorded in New York 1947. Condition: 1st record 2-3, slight scuffs / 2nd record 2 and 2-3 / 3th record Side A: 2, but edge flake into 8 grooves, repaired ( not very professional ) and 1" haircrack causes 10 audible clicks in music at beginn; Side B: 2, edge flake not in music and 1" haircrack not audible. Album: VG, traces of use and handling, discoloration. Explanatory text and picture of Maro Ajemian, William Masselos and John Cage at the Cage-prepared Steinway piano.

2 records 12" V Disc 766 and 767, Vinyl pressing: Hovhaness, Lousadzak in 4 parts, Orchestra composed of Members of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Condition: 2, fine not open lamination crack on Side 4, no sound

12" RCA Victor 12-0343: Bartok, Rondo No 1 on a Folk tune; Bulgarian dance No 1 / Anahind Ajemian, violin with Maro Ajemian piano: Khachaturian, Chant poème. Recorded 1948. Condition 1-2

Grading:

1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used

1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new

2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks

2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes

3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible

3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible

4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible

5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.
