Martin Newell verbrachte die 80er Jahre damit, mit Robyn Hitchcock, XTC und anderen, aus den 60ern weniger bekannten Pop-Größen verglichen zu werden. Daher war es folgerichtig, dass Andy Partridge von XTC dieses 1993er Newell-Soloalbum produzieren würde. Das Ergebnis ist kein Teil von Martins Tagen als The Cleaners from Venus oder The Brotherhood of Lizards. Die Produktion ist sauberer als auf den Aufnahmen von Newell, aber die Songs sind so melodisch und abenteuerlich wie nie zuvor. Wenn sich der Charme von "We'll Build a House" (was Robert Pollard, der von Robert Pollard geleitet wurde, wie er damals nachgespielt hat) natürlich reizt, dann gibt es noch viel mehr, woher das kommt. Newell ist ein frommer Engländer und schreibt seine Songs so, wie Ray Davies mit The Kinks seine Beobachtungen über das britische Leben in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart gestaltet hat. Es gibt eine Davies-ähnliche Mischung von "The Greatest Living Englishman", eine Flut von Gitarren gegen "She Rings the Changes" und "Alle einsamen Leute" fühlen sich "A Street Called Prospect" und "The Green-Gold Girl of" an Sommer." Der einzige Nachteil, von Mr. Newell verführt zu werden ?

Martin Newell spent the '80s being compared to Robyn Hitchcock, XTC and other lesser-known pop masters from the '60s. So it was logic that Andy Partridge of XTC would produce this 1993 Newell solo album. The result is no part of Martin's days as The Cleaners from Venus or The Brotherhood of Lizards. The production is cleaner than on Newell's recordings, but the songs are more melodic and adventurous than ever. If the charm of "We'll Build a House" (which Robert Pollard, who was led by Robert Pollard as he played it back then) is naturally appealing, then there is much more where it comes from. Newell is a pious Englishman and writes his songs like Ray Davies did with The Kinks his observations about British life in the past and present. There's a Davies-like mix of "The Greatest Living Englishman", a flood of guitars against "She Rings the Changes" and "All Lonely People" feel "A Street Called Prospect" and "The Green-Gold Girl of" on summer. The only disadvantage of being seduced by Mr. Newell ?

Erhaltungszustand der Platte / Condition of the record:  neuwertig like new MINT-  Am Ende von Seite A ist Papier ins Vinyl gepresst. Glücklicherweise aber erst am Ende der Musik, sodaß man ein "Klicken" erst hört, wenn die Musik zuende ist. Paper is pressed into vinyl at the end of side A. Fortunately, it's only at the end of the music, so you won't hear a "click" until the music is over.

Erhaltungszustand des Covers / Condition of the sleeve:  EX-  kleine Knickchen um den Rand und rechts oben eine kleine Preisschildbeschädigung. Tiny wrinkles around the edge and a small price tag damage in the upper right corner.

M > MINT : Die Platte ist brandneu ohne jegliche Gebrauchsspuren oder Einschränkungen in der Klangqualität. Das Cover sowie Textblätter, Poster, Booklets usw. sind ebenfalls in perfekter Qualität.

EX > EXZELLENT : Die Platte zeigt nur minimale Abspielspuren und Abstriche an der Klangqualität sind sehr gering. Ähnliches gilt für das Cover.

VG > VERY GOOD : Man sieht der Platte an, daß sie des öfteren abgespielt worden ist; leichte Kratzer und Gebrauchsspuren sind vorhanden. Die Klangqualität ist jedoch noch gut. Das Cover hat Gebrauchsspuren, jedoch keine größeren Schäden.
