Some info on the release:  Very rare original issue, released in Australia sometime in the early 70's by Festival Records. Features pieces from avant-garde composers, like Jeniffer Fowler's "Chimes Fractured" with bells, bagpipes, percussions, etc. trying to recapture a "chance experience", Barry Conyngham's "Water...Footsteps...Time..." with amplified instruments and orchestra influenced by the work of Toru Takemitsu, Martin Wesley-Smith's "Interval Piece" experimenting with intervals, plus works from George Tibbits and Janet Dobie. Martin Wesley-Smith (born 10 June 1945) is an Australian composer with an eclectic output ranging from children's songs to environmental events. He works in a range of musical styles, including choral music, operas, computer music, music theatre, chamber and orchestral music, and audiovisual pieces which bring words, music and images together. He often works with his librettist brother, Peter Wesley-Smith. He is one of the pioneers of computer, or electronic music. He studied composition at the University of Adelaide. From his student days, Wesley-Smith was a rebel, moonlighting on the banjo with a folkie band, The Wesley Three, when his teachers would have preferred he focus on his classical studies. His teachers included Peter Maxwell Davies, Jindrich Feld, Sandor Veress and Richard Meale. From the start Wesley-Smith has been eclectic in his composition. He created an early Moog #3 piece in 1970 called Vietnam Image. At the same time he composed songs for children's radio and television programs. He was able to "write, sing and record real tunes, as well as esoteric orchestral and chamber music". An interviewer in 2005 describes his eclecticism as follows: "there aren't many composers that I can think of anywhere in the world who have the breadth of activity that you have, writing songs for Playschool and writing pieces for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, and writing music theatre pieces and writing straight out agit-prop".

Emeritus Professor Barry Conyngham is an Australian composer and academic. He has over seventy published works and over thirty recordings featuring his compositions, and his works have been premiered or performed in Australia, Japan, North and South America, the United Kingdom and Europe. Barry Ernest Conyngham was born in Sydney. He was initially interested in jazz, and studied with Raymond Hanson and Richard Meale but turned his attention to orchestral writing in the mid-1960s with encouragement from Peter Sculthorpe. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney in 1967, and a Master of Arts (Hons.) at the same university in 1971. In 1970 he visited Japan on a Churchill Fellowship, where he studied with T?ru Takemitsu. In 1972 went to the United States on a Harkness Fellowship and gained a Certificate of Post-Doctoral Studies from the University of California, San Diego in 1973. He was a Fellow of Princeton University 1973–74, and Composer-in-Residence at the University of Aix-Marseille in 1974–75. He was a Lecturer at the University of Melbourne from 1975 to 1979, then Senior Lecturer 1975–79. He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Minnesota, was a Senior Fulbright Fellow in 1982, and that year gained a Doctorate in Music from the University of Melbourne. He became Professor and Head of the School of Creative Arts at the University of Wollongong 1989–94. He was the first musician to hold the Chair of Australian Studies at Harvard University (2000–2001). Many of Conyngham's works are often written with specific outstanding practitioners in mind: Bertram Turetzky, Jane Manning, Lyndon Terracini, Roger Woodward, Wanda Wilkomirska,Florian Kitt, Alice Giles, Tamas Ungar, Satsuki Odamura, Teddy Tahou-Rhodes, Ananda Sukarlan,  and Robert Nairn. Three conductors have also played a major role in premiering his orchestral and theatre works: John Hopkins, Geoffrey Simon and Hiroyuki Iwaki .

Condition: Vinyl lies in mint condition, looks super clean and plays perfectly, while cover lies in excellent shape, would be mint if it didn't have a small bend (see picture).
