Hard to find original 1959 Mono album on Warner Bros. #W1296 (W1296 cover), (W1296 (8284) label), (8284 scratch).  By renowned jazz musician Marty Paich—with  featured artists Art Pepper, Dave Pell, Jack Sheldon, Buddy Clark, and Mel Lewis. 

 

Paich wrote arrangements for a who's who of West Coast Jazz, including Chet Baker, Buddy Rich, Ray Brown, Dave Pell, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Woody Herman, and others.  Performing professionally since the age of 16, Marty Paich was an accomplished composer, arranger and pianist.  In a career that spanned over 5 decades, Marty also played with such greats as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Mahalia Jackson, Dorothy Dandridge, Peggy Lee, Barbra Streisand, Sammy Davis Jr., Al Hirt, Dean Martin, Mel Tormè, Lena Horne, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Stan Getz, Michael Jackson, Art Pepper, and a hundred others.

 

With his modern jazz interpretation of some well-known Broadway musicals, “The Broadway Bit” is a great addition to any modern jazz / jazz bop collection!

 

Condition: Vinyl is in very good ++ condition, with very light surface scratches and scuffs.  Please note that the pictures are not capturing all of the light surface marks.  Cover is good, but has about 5 ½”seam split on top and bottom.  The corner of the split goes around to the back, ending in approx. 1” tear on the back cover.  LP is in original paper insert (insert is splitting on all 3 sides). Owner’s name is written in ballpoint pen on back cover, Gene Dudley, 7/24/60.  Price $3.98 is stamped on back cover. Original register receipt included (no store name on receipt).
