"Marty" Paich (January 23, 1925 – August 12, 1995) was an American pianist, composer, arranger, producer, music director and conductor.

In a career which spanned half a century, he worked in these capacities for such artists as Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Sarah Vaughan, Stan

 Kenton, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Tormé, Ray Charles, Johnny Rivers, Aretha Franklin, Linda Ronstadt, Al Hirt, Jack Jones,Neil Diamond, Stan

 Getz, Sammy Davis Jr, Michael Jackson, Art Pepper, Ethel Azama, Mahalia Jackson, Toto (his son David is a longtime member of that band), and

 many others.

"This outing finds the arranger featuring a 13-piece band with such all-stars as altoist Art Pepper (showcased on "Violets for Your Furs"), trumpeters Jack Sheldon and Conte Candoli, tenorman Bill Perkins, vibraphonist Victor Feldman and pianist Russ Freeman. Paich does not play any piano this time around, but he contributed the eight arrangements. The selections are all jazz standards, with Paich's reinterpretations of such numbers as "It Don't Mean a Thing," "Moanin'" and "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" making even the most familiar songs sound fresh. 

Not yet out on CD, this LP is well worth searching for."

Jacket: VG/VG+ (top & bottom seams have 1/2" split at opening edge)

Vinyl:  VG/NM- (Side 1 Track 1 has a light scratch which produces soft 'ticks' for the first half of the track. Thereafter the LP plays beautifully NM-)

I will not sell LPs that appear to be in less of a condition than I myself would be happy to receive. The only exception would be truly rare discs and then any flaws would be clearly explained. Having been disappointed by the condition of a number of LPs purchased I am EXTREMELY sensitive to this issue and will try my best to grade with this in mind.
