Description

Johanna Martzy, violin  /  Jean Antonietti, piano

Franz Schubert: Sonatine for violin and piano D-Dur  op, 137 No 1

Franz Schubert: Sonatine for violin and piano g-moll  op, 137 No 3

Columbia 33 WC 503, german 10", early pressing on the dark blue / gold lettering label,  gatefold cover, 1st pressing with red triangle logo on cover  -  stamper:  XR 221 2  /    XR 222 2
Cover:   VG+          ( repaired by pre owner.  These early german GF covers are hard to handle. The covers are often split. ) Vinyl:     VG+   ( signs of use on both sides, a few surface noise in passages )

Interesting chamber recording  -  sensitive play by both -  amazing sound quality ! Playgraded with mono pick-up,  full, strong, dynamic mono sound with a lot of bass !
Original Columbia records with Martzy playing the Schubert Sonatines:
  • UK Columbia 33CX  ( expensive )
  • German Columbia pale blue label 12" ( lower price, even if it is rarer than the UK pressing -> smaller market;   may-be later pressing of the earlier 10" )
  • German 10" are the rarest of the three editions mentioned here. Youngrok Lee does not mention this 10"  -> Martzy discography

Sleeve :
NM :  close to new
